What is a refurbished Laptop you may ask?
Asus refurbished laptops are older familiar branded models of laptops. These laptops in the main fall into three categorys. Ex-company machines which can be anything up to 5 years old. Quality control failures by the manufacturer or a customer return due to a component defect.
Refurbishment of the laptop can be undertaken by the manufacturer themselves or a third party. When a manufacturer refurbishes a laptop they use the same parts that are used to build their new laptop models. If refurbishment is done by a third party, equivalent parts maybe used.
An example of refurbishing a laptop is a memory upgrade, whereby you may have a previous model of the newer version and say for instance the laptop to be refurbished has only 4Gb RAM but space for another 4Gb then the older machine gets another 2Gb of memory, giving 4Gb of memory and you have a faster laptop than the new model. This is plus for buying a refurbished laptop.
Other good reasons for buying a cheap Asus refurbished laptop is firstly the price tag, which is very much lower than a new one and secondly you could end up with a laptop that does everything you want for less outlay. One thing I will point out is that a lot of refurbished laptops do still run on Win 8. Now you may think all the latest Windows based laptops use Windows 7 or 8 or 10 and yes, just around the corner Windows 8 is about to be released. All these operating systems are far more expensive than Win 7 so don't be put off purchasing a refurbished laptop because it has the Win 7 operating system installed. This older operating system has proved to be the most reliable operating system that Microsoft have released to date. I am sure that a lot of you out there have had reliability issues with Vista, although service pack 2 did overcome a lot of the issues that this operating system incorporated.
Warrantys on cheap Asus refurbished laptops start from a 30 day return to base platform. If the laptop is not that old there maybe the manufactures warranty still in place.
One thing to watch out for is being sold an extended warranty. An extended warranty should only be considered if it is the manufacturer extended warranty and not through a third party. Also if you are offered an extended warranty and you think that the cost is making the product more expensive than a new machine, then avoid purchasing the product.
